Construction on Truro's new Health Park began this month. The £20 million project is said to be well underway according to thisiswestcountry.co.uk, who reports that the development is due to open in the summer of 2010.

The Truro Health Park is to offer a central location for a variety of healthcare services for residents in the area.

A range of occupational therapy jobs will be created at the new development.

As well as the relocation of the local Lemon Street General Practice, the health park will offer ongoing support for patients. The centre will offer professional support from people working in speech and language therapy jobs, as well as physiotherapy jobs, in a fully equipped modern facility.

Rod Hulme, Director of Community 1st Cornwall, said "It's very exciting to see the development at this advanced stage and to know that by the summer of next year the Health Park will be fully operational and delivering high quality services to the people of
Truro."

The new facility is being constructed on part of the site formerly used by the City Hospital. Other services that it will offer include podiatry, pharmacy and dental care, as well as facilities for minor procedures.

As well as the medical facilities, the Health Park will feature a number of internal and external art installations.

Public transport to and from the park will be made available to patients and staff once it's doors open.
