Social housing tenants in Plymouth are jumping for joy due to a switch from council-run housing to third party ownership, reports This Is Plymouth.

However, the new owners, Plymouth Community Homes, are asking to have "a louder voice" and "more help with anti-social behaviour" in order to help even more residents with social housing.

Plymouth Community Homes, which has created many social housing jobs, unlocked £1billion of funding over the next 30 years after taking over 15,000 homes in the area.

According to a survey sent to 3,000 households earlier this year, 81 per cent of tenants who responded said they are satisfied with repairs that have taken place recently. 

The survey, called Have Your Say, also noted that 82 per cent were satisfied with Plymouth Community Homes overall - an increase of nine per cent on 2008 when homes were under Plymouth City Council control.

Clive Turner, Plymouth Community Homes chief executive, said even more promises will be delivered over the years to tenants: "It's good that we have seen a significant improvement in overall satisfaction, when we are at such an early stage in our existence.

"There are many more promises to deliver and improvements in services to be made and we know this will be a challenge - we are not complacent."
