Visiting one of the many professionals in physiotherapy jobs could combat any cystitis symptoms ladies have, according to a medical expert.

Speaking to Mail Online, urogynecologist Vik Khullar claimed that a tight pelvic floor can be a cause of cystitis. Having physiotherapy can help loosen it and therefore reduce the chances of developing the painful illness.

Combined with muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories, the therapy can really be of help to sufferers - particularly those who have been misdiagnosed. Some GPs tell ladies with cystitis to tighten their pelvic floors, which only makes the problem worse.

"Some sufferers leak [urine] and are told to tighten their pelvic floor muscles, which can be detrimental," said women's health expert, Christien Bird.

"People are going through the medical mill for years with no resolve," she added. She and Khullar are therefore trying to highlight the benefits of using their suggested combination to tackle cystitis. One woman who took their advice was actress Judith Green, who explained how well it had worked for her.

"Physiotherapy reduced my pain levels and frequency, aching and stiffness. It wasn't the whole answer but it gave me hope when there seemed to be no other option," she admitted on Wn.com.
