Physiotherapist puts his work on hold for ballet class

05 July 2011 - Deborah Bates

One of the professionals working in physiotherapy jobs throughout the UK has put his work on hold - in order to attend a ballet class.

Major David Wilson, a physiotherapist who works for the Royal Army Medical Corps, took time out of his busy schedule to join the class in order to help raise funds for his ill friend.

BirminghamMail.net confirmed that Major Wilson's friend Nicola Vaux is suffering with bowel and liver cancer.

She could have a specialist treatment, however it would set her back £200,000, which she doesn't have. As such, those close to her have been doing challenges to raise money for her.

One such person was Major Wilson, who decided to use his strength built up a physiotherapist to try his hand at the delicate dance class. He said he found the class a lot hard than he had originally thought, adding: "These guys have to be phenomenally strong to hold these positions.

"And you don't realise how high they have to jump in order to make all those turns," Major Wilson exclaimed. Often, ballet dancers turn to physiotherapists for help with pain, according to Balletnews.co.uk. It isn't often that the situation is reversed.

However Major Wilson did better than he thought, according to the class teacher, Dominic Antonucci, who said: "He did really well. He is quite fit already and is actually quite co-ordinated."

What's more, Ms Vaux was overjoyed that her friend stepped in to help out. She said she was "very grateful" to him and count always count on him to "try anything."
