The latest addition to a family run chain of nursing homes will employ some 120 workers in management and residential support worker jobs, reports the Belfast Telegraph.

Parkmanor care home in Country Antrim is the fourth facility to be opened by local family the Maplins. The new home has been built in the grounds of a hotel and according to managing director Mary Maplin, it has retained some of the comforts and luxuries of its old purpose.

"It's very different from other nursing homes," she told the Belfast Telegraph in a report published yesterday. "It's a fabulous building built over four floors."

Each of the four floors will be purposed towards a different aspect of the care homes facilities and operations. The ground floor will be the heart of the communal areas for residents, featuring the kitchen and living room areas, whilst the second and third floor will be focused upon nursing care and accommodation. Finally, the top floor will be reserved for long term residents of the home, namely elderly and mentally infirm patients.

According to Mrs Maplin, the home will be capable of housing 78 residents and when full will provide employment for 120 people. The family already employs many people in domiciliary care jobs in the area, at its existing care homes in south Belfast, Coleraine, Londonderry and BallyCastle.
