A £10 million refurbishment of a Scottish hospital could see many new physiotherapy jobs open. The refurbishment of Adamson Hospital has got the go ahead from authorities to expand, offering a wide range of services to locals.

The site is in the location of Cupar and is set to provide a range of services including: physiotherapy, X-ray, ultrasound and minor injury treatments. A walk in clinic which offers GP services will also be included as part of the modernisation efforts at the facility.

Physiotherapy is becoming a necessity for many people, making it easier for carers to find jobs, both privately and within the National Health Service. Figures from the Department of Health indicate that two thirds of women and half of men are expected to need care in later life in the next 20 years.

Scottish public health minister Shona Robison said the refurbishment will see a broad mix of services to be delivered once the work is completed. She said: "This exciting and much anticipated project will significantly enhance local healthcare and give the people of Cupar and north-east Fife a hospital to be proud of."

In the NHS efficiency measures in 2008 and 2009, £300 million was saved. The Scottish government announced this last month, and said that all of the savings are being reinvested in front line services.
