The Care Quality Commission has praised Kingston Hospital for its levels of care in elderly people, reports elmbridgetoday.co.uk.

A new report from the social care regulator revealed the hospital is meeting two key standards - privacy/dignity and nutrition - for elderly people, after a surprise spot check at the institution.

The regulator carried out checks at 100 hospital trusts across the country and found that Kingston was one of the 45 trusts to achieve 'full compliance' in both of the standards.

Those in nurse manager jobs across the 45 trusts may be very happy to hear the results from the CQC, which checked that older people were treated with respect, plus given the food and drink required for their specific needs.

Thestar.co.uk suggests that the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield was another hospital that received high praise from the CQC due to its high standards in elderly care.

Jenny Parr, director of nursing and patient experience at Kingston Hospital, expressed her delight at the figures: "We work incredibly hard at the hospital to make sure we are always improving the privacy and dignity and nutritional care we provide to our patients.

"It is really good news that the CQC has confirmed that we have complied with their standards following their unannounced visit," she added.
