Care home will create 60 new jobs

07 June 2010 - Laura Nineham

A new care home opening in Lincolnshire will create 60 new jobs, according to the Rutland and Stamford Mercury.

Abbey Court, a multi-million pound care home, will open in four weeks and recruitment has already began to fill the vacancies, which range from support roles to nurse manager jobs.

According to The Peterborough Evening Telegraph the new home will provide beds for 88 older people in Bourne, Lincolnshire who need nursing or dementia nursing care. The care will be provided in single, en-suite accommodation and there will be lounges and dining areas with a secure, landscaped garden.

There will also be a specialist dementia unit, including a 'reminiscence room' and planned activities, with coordinated visits from GPs. chiropodists, opticians and other healthcare professionals.

Sharon Butler, managing director of Priory Group Care homes, which has build the care home, told the Rutland and Stamford Mercury: "Abbey Court has been well received by healthcare professionals, particularly in light of the nursing and dementia nursing services it provides for the local community in Bourne."

She added: "The experience the Priory Group has in mental health, complex and long-term care, transfers very well into older people's services. People are now living longer and have more complex needs and associated health issues that we have the experience to care for."

The care home will be managed by Peter Barlow. The 50 year-old from Cambridgeshire trained as a nurse in the army and has spent 15 years in the elderly care sector.
