Brain care jobs to be created in the North East

07 May 2010 - Laura Nineham

Brain injury care specialists Neuro Partners are expanding in the North East, creating 150 new jobs in the region, according to the Northern Echo.

New neuro psychology, rehabilitation consultant and occupational therapy jobs will be scattered across the new centres in Warrington and Cheshire.

The company, which wants to double its workforce to 300, has revealed plans to open another centre in Middlesborough later this year.

Jonathan Wade, Managing Director of Neuro Partners, said: "Tees Valley has long been a target growth area for us and we wanted to develop our services there, mainly because of the excellent work already being done by The James Cook Hospital, in the town. We want to build on what they offer and provide an even better, wide-ranging service for people dealing with brain injury in Tees Valley.”

Many of the vacancies will be open to people who aren't fully qualified. Wade said the successful applicants will be trained once they're on board: “We don’t put a bar on people, because we want the right personalities for the job. Each region has a group of health professionals and there is a large contingent of rehabilitation assistants who are training to deliver what we need on a daily basis.”

Neuro Partners rehabilitates people living with brain injuries and neurological conditions, focusing on its effects on the family at the same time. People are usually referred to the company following a pre-discharge assessment by the hospital, which will establish their individual needs. It's a company funded by Primary Care Trusts and Social Services.
