Allied health professionals are the happiest workers in the country

09 June 2010 - Laura Nineham

A survey has found that healthcare professionals are the happiest workers in the country, according to The Press Association.

As reported on MSN News, the study found that as many as one in five people are unhappy in their work. This rises to almost half of workers when considering civil servants alone.

88% of people working in the healthcare sector, in speech and language therapy jobs for example, say they're content with their jobs, according to GMTV. In contrast, over half of people working in different industries said they would choose a different profession if they had a second chance.

The results of the study were published to mark the third annual VQ Day - a day that celebrates people who gain vocational qualifications each year. They found that 62% of those people didn't think having a vocational qualification would help them achieve their ideal job. Less than a third of those who want to be teachers, journalists, broadcasters, writers or lawyers realised a vocational qualification could help them get their dream jobs.

Last year a survey among NHS staff showed improvements in job satisfaction with fewer staff intending to leave the NHS, according to HR Magazine.
