Home care firm Home Instead Senior Care has announced that it aims to create 40 new social housing jobs in 2010.

The announcement, reported by Cambridge News, was made as the company opened a new office in Cambridge. Cambridge News reports that Mike Francis, the director of the new franchise, is "looking for carers to keep people company in their own homes and perform light duties"

Home Instead Senior Care has had rapid growth since it opened its first office in 2005 and is now a major employer of people in social housing jobs such as residential support workers or live-in wardens. The franchise began in Omaha, Nebraska in 1995, with the British company opening ten years later.

Whilst the franchise as a whole employs people in domiciliary care jobs all over the world - Spain, Australia, Taiwan, Japan and other countries - the UK office is the second most substantial branch outside of America. Currently it operates from 75 offices across the UK, and plans to open another 25 offices across Ireland and the UK in 2010. In 4.5 years, the company has grown to an annual turnover of £24m and won 36 awards from both UK Business and UK Care bodies such as the Liverpool Care Award and Barclay's UK Start Up Business of the Year.
